How to Perfect The No Makeup Look
We all have those days when we just want to look fresh and natural, like we’re not even wearing a stitch of makeup–even when we are. To help you achieve the perfect no makeup look, here are some tips you might want to try next time you do your makeup.
Use minimal foundation
Don’t pile on the face makeup. In fact, if you could ditch the foundation altogether and use something with a more natural-looking coverage, such as a tinted moisturizer or BB cream, that would be best. Make sure to apply with a light hand, so that your natural skin can still be seen through the makeup. If you have any dark circles or blemishes, dab some concealer and blend well.
Skip the powder
Powder can look very obvious… no matter how lightly you apply it. To battle shine, just use oil-blotting sheets. If you simply must use powder (it does help set your makeup, after all) on your face, go with a translucent powder and use a big, fluffy brush–not the powder puff that usually comes with powder makeup.
Go with a cream blush or cheek stain
For a more natural flush, use a cream blush or cheek stain on the apples of your cheeks. This will give you an authentic-looking blush, as if you just came back from a run.
Don’t use lipstick
To achieve that au naturel look, try to stay away from lipstick. Wear a tinted lip balm or lip stain instead. But if you really want to wear lipstick, choose a shade that’s closest to the real color of your lips.
Keep eye makeup minimal
Skip the eyeshadow or use a very light color that’s close to the color of your eyelids. For mascara, make it look as natural as possible by wiping off the excess product from your mascara wand before applying to your lashes. This will keep your lashes from sticking together and looking all thick and clumpy. You could also skip the eyeliner altogether. However, if you have sparse lashes and need the extra help you get from eyeliner, just tightline (applying liner under your top lashes) to make your lashes look much thicker. Also, to make yourself look more awake, apply a light-colored eye pencil (peach, pale yellow, or very light pink) on your waterline.
Lastly, groom your eyebrows properly. Tweeze or thread away those stray hairs! Your eyebrows should look neat, though not necessarily perfect. If they’re a little on the thin side, fill them in with a brow powder that’s a shade or two lighter than your natural hair color.
Just remember–less is more!
