Valentines Day Ideas: single, with a crush, or a group!

Take a look at some great Valentines Day Ideas! It’s not just for couples anymore.

While some may surmise the holiday was created by the greeting card folks, the rest of us are just darn glad it exists! I am a big fan of pink, red, hearts, cupids and all other cheeky goods on one single day of the almighty year and it is almost upon us! Nowhere in the standards of Valentines Day ideas is there a guideline for celebrating solely with a crush, so here goes a few ideas for the big day, regardless of your situation. In the eternal words of Mr. Lennon, “All you need is love”… and maybe a few conversation hearts.

Celebrating Single: This day is all about how lovely you are and what makes you special! I am a true believer that you must love yourself before love can grow around you, so plant your own seeds, sister! Take this day to reflect on what makes you ah-mazing and goddess-like. Treat yourself today-whether that means a pampered day with a massage and pedicure or a movie with a ganache cupcake from that shop you dart your eyes from as you drive home from work. Bakeries are your friend today- they bake extra love into those gluten-free choco-wonders, I swear.

With your significant other:  Crushing? Dating? Married? If so, your dance card is full with one person and you are looking forward to this Friday! Take a moment to plan something creative. It’s cold outside and the Polar Vortex may have plans of its own, so consider accordingly. One idea that will save you from the cold and keep you laughing all night long, have your own Chopped: Valentine’s version, at your home! In this version, the two of you will buy aphrodisiacs like garlic, dark chocolate, wine, pineapple and seafood, along with some truly random food items (think: candy hearts, hearts of palm).  Separate your items into three courses: appetizer, entrée and dessert, and see who can come up with the wackiest most wonderful Valentine’s dish!

With your friends: Valentine’s Day is perfect for a group of friends or a pair of besties. Try taking on a complex venture like making your own wine or beer, craft night with a vintage Valentine’s theme or simply a movie night with a drinking game where you stick a heart outline on your television screen and every time an actor’s face moves in the heart- drink!

Apparently most of my ideas have to do with food, so you can tell what my Valentine’s Day is going to look like. Upon researching, I did discover that the day is also known as the Feast of Saint Valentine, so there! Whatever you choose to do and whoever you choose to do it with, remember that it is a day to celebrate love and all things happy. Valentine’s Don’t? Do not think about exes, past Valentine’s gifts that were better than the current year’s choices, or being lonely. This is your holiday and you get to write in the memories with a feathered pink pen.
