Cyndi Lauper Throws Us For A Loop

Cyndi Lauper messed up the lyrics of the “Star-Spangled Banner,” thus ruining her Career… Or whatever was left of it?! We were shocked when we heard the twist and change on the significant line. Similar to Ms. Aguilera at the Superbowl, apparently the line, “O’er the ramparts we watch’d were so gallantly streaming,” is too difficult to either remember or perform, so Ms. Lauper simply stated, “O’er the ramparts, we watched as our flag was still streaming.” Yeah, I don’t think that’s correct? I don’t think Francis Scott Key was too thrilled to hear the remix of his Poem.

Nonetheless, everyone who was anyone was outraged. Everyone had an opinion and was appalled that a lyric could be mispronounced and misconstrued on such an important day in our lives. With social media being a second away, the mass being was taking to Twitter and Facebook commenting on the situation. And boy, was this a Situation. Far worse then, “The Situation” on Jersey Shore, if’s thats possible.

Most are confused on why the Lyric was sang incorrect. Some believe she had changed it on purpose, other’s believe Cyndi just was confused in the first place? With her performance at a Tennis match, it’s less painful and scarring to both Cyndi and the public seeing that not to many watched it, unlike the Superbowl (sorry Christina,) but it’s still painful to see.

Either way, it’s unsure Ms. Lauper’s motives or mind set during this performance and her reasoning behind this mispronounced lyric. All we do know, is that if we need to tape the lyrics to a camera so a performer can sing it properly, or if we need to do it ourselves, someone better get it right next time.

“Oh, say can you see…”
